Dr Gabriel Machovsky Capuska is a seasoned leader with over 20 years’ experience in transformative executive management and scientific research, leveraging analytical rigor and visionary thinking to create sustainable, forward-thinking solutions. Gabriel brings additional experience in strategic leadership, operational efficiency, and innovation to drive organisational growth and impact.

Gabriel holds a PhD in Ecology from Massey University (Auckland, New Zealand), he was a distinguished visiting Professor from Charles University Prague (Czech Republic) and has several postgraduate fellowships including Marie Sklodowska-Curie from the European Commission, Loxton Fellowship from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Marine Ecology from Mar del Plata National University (Argentina).

Gabriel’s governance experience includes a previous role as a Board member for the British Ecological Society Research Journals. His research received multiple international excellence awards and has been published in many prestigious scientific journals attracting extensive media coverage worldwide.

Gabriel also has proven experience in diverse stakeholder relations, including government and academic institutions, investors, board members and clients spanning South America, Antarctica, Oceania, Europe, Asia and Africa. In addition to this, Gabriel is passionate about cultural competency and engagement at a local level, including working with communities across Asia Pacific including Māori (the original inhabitants of New Zealand), Papua New Guinean, Aboriginal Australians and Laotian communities, to build consensus and drive collective action on sustainability issues.
